What does an ear, nose and throat specialist do?

Medicine/surgery: We are both the medical and surgical doctors for all ages of patients who have any problems with the ears and balance, the nose and sinuses, the throat and swallowing. Also for people with difficulty communicating/hearing/ or suffering from a deformity or tumor of the head and neck, excluding the eyes and brain (although we do get pretty close to both those structures).

ENT summary: An ent, or otolaryngologist, diagnoses and manages medical and surgical diseases of the ears, nose, and throat in adult and pediatric patients. These conditions include infections of the ear nose throat, tumors of the head and neck, allergy, hearing and balance problems, voice and swallowing disorders, etc. Just about anything except the neck spine, brain, eyes, and carotid arteries.
