Depends: In order to treat ear pain, a proper diagnosis must be made. Common causes include ear infections, TMJ syndrome, or referred pain from the mouth, neck or throat. A thorough ENT exam is essential. Treatment is then based on the cause.

Ear pain: An ENT can evaluate your ears to determine if there is an infection, or blockage due to excess ear wax. If there isn't any medical condition, the pain may be due to a problem with the position of the condyle ( upper portion of the lower jaw-mandible). If the teeth meet in a position that forces the jaw backwards, this can cause ear pain. A symptom of tmd - temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
