A 17-year-old male asked:

Facial Plastic Surgery 19 years experience
Anesthesia safety: The type of anesthesia to sedate patients can vary. It is most important to protect the airway during a patient's altered consciousness. If the nasal surgery includes the risk of bleeding into the throat, general anesthesia is much safer and "twighlight" sedation poses high risks. If the approach has minimal incisions and bleeding, it is possible to safely use twighlight with caution.
A 22-year-old female asked:

Thick nasal skin: Having thicker skin on the nose is a blessing in the long-run, but can make for a slower recovery because of greater swelling. An appropriate facial analysis during the pre-operative planning period should result in a plan that does NOT typically require more than a single surgery. There are countless techniques available to help thick skinned noses get great results.

Rhinoplasty recovery: Getting the new look you want can be very rewarding with the correct rhinoplasty technique. Your recovery varies with many variables: medical condition, skin thickness, extent of surgery, approach of incisions, diet, and general health. Keep in mind that your surgeon is the best to answer this specifically for you, but as a general rule the tip tends to retain swelling the longest. Good luck!
