Will a wisdom tooth infection from extraction go away on its own without antibiotics?

No: An infection can become a serious issue if not addressed early. Generally speaking, the longer standing the infection, the more problematic they become.

Possibly: But why take a chance having it spread? Speak to your surgeon.

Perhaps: But why take the chance. If you have an infection "wait and see" can lead to complications, some extremely severe. Take the meds. Get better faster. The risk of bad reaction to the meds is much lower than the risk of the infection spreading. Follow your treating Dentist's or Oral Surgeon's advice.

Not likely: Improper care can lead to serious and painful complications. You should visit your surgeon for post-op evaluation and treatment.

Rarely: It is possible as some infections your body will heal itself. But that is a big gamble you should not take. The possible complications that could arise if left untreated could have dire consequences. Have it seen and treated. The risk is too great.
