Post operative Pain: I understand your concern about Addiction. If you do not have Dependence on Alcohol, Benzodiazepines or Sleeping medications, you will not become addicted to Percocet or Vicodin if you took it for a week postoperatively. While under care of Surgeon, gradually decrease dose.If intensity of pain decreases, discuss taking Ibuprofen or Naprosyn Do Breathing and Music Relaxation, Meditation

Usually safe: If used short term usually safe. Once pain improving switch to ibuprofen or Tylenol. Understand that there will be some pain and it will get better. See other pain management strategies on health tap. Discuss concerns with your surgeon
