Perfectionism is : maladaptive if a person persistently sets unrealistic, unattainable goals for himself & others. Perfectionists can have obsessive personality types, needing to feel in control at all times to protect themselves & ensure their own safety. However, obsessive personality type differs from OCD. A combination of Cognitive-Behavioral, humanistic, psychoanalytic, & group therapies may be needed.
