Unusual: Torus palatines is described as being a midline structure. That said, honey exostosies may appear anywhere on the human body. See your Dentist, or preferably an Oral Surgeon, for evaluation and any necessary treatment.

Most often: A torus is a bony outgrowth. Torus Palatinus is, by definition, a torus on your hard palate which is most often at or near the midline. It doesn't have to be but if it isn't, make sure that's what it is and not cortical plate expansion caused by a cyst or other pathological process. As always, there is no substitute for a real world clinical exam

Torus: A tori is a boney growth usually at or near the midline. If you have a bump that is not near the midline, is changing or growing, is painful then you should see a dentist or oral surgeon ASAP to have this evaluated.

Tori: That's the most common site. The term refers to a benign overgrowth of bone on the palate, usually in the center.

Torus Palatinus: No, it doesn't have to be in the mid-line of the palate although in the vast majority of cases it is. Size and shape may vary, even over time. If you have a hard bump on your palate, have your own dentist confirm that what you have is benign and a torus.
