A member asked:

I have laryngitis, is there a high probability my 3, 2, and 1 year old will also get it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: People in one household tend to get the same upper respiratory infections at the same time, because the germs (usually viruses) are contagious. In the fall season, we see kids getting croup (cold symptoms and a barky cough). The same viruses that cause croup will cause laryngitis in teens and adults.
