No connection: Pityriasis rosea has also been mistaken with other similar scaly patches, like fungal infection, syphilis, etc. Usually, pityriasis rosea will clear on its own in 8-10 without medical intervention. If concerned, see a dermatologist for evaluation, tests and diagnosis.
