Markers: GP41 (GlycoProtien 41) is a marker of of the envelope GlycoProtien seen in retroviruses, HIV is a retrovirus. GP 46 is a marker of HTLV I and II. Markers are typically used to identify the presence or absence of infectious agents, malignancies etc.
