Axillary neuropathy?: Hard to say without further details such as weakness, pain or understanding the area of numbness. An axillary neuropathy can cause a circumscribed sensory loss on the lateral shoulder without much weakness. There can be compression of the posterior or medial cutaneous nerve from carrying the groceries. If the numbness does not improve or if you develop further symptoms, please see your physician.
