Itching can be part: of the healing process. That is why cuts on the skin often itch while they heal, daring you to scratch it and risk breaking it open again. That is why sometimes a completely healed over scar can still itch. Having said that, worsening itching for weeks after an infection may also mean allergic or hypersensitivity reaction. So monitor the duration of the itch.
