Good question: Several local municipalities have instructions, so check with yours. Some may be safely thrown in your trash (remove all personal information on bottles). Some meds may be harmful to pets, other people, the envornment, etc. And cause harm if they were accidently ingested, so they may need flushing down the toilet. If unknown, you can ask your pharmacist, and check some web sites with med lists.
