Neutrophilia.: If he had an infection at the time then not necessarily a worry although I'd like a repeat blood test to see that the WBC count normalized after treatment. Regardless, that WBC count is rather high and deserves investigation - at least another CBC with manual differential to see number and types. If it remains high, more testing may be necessary.

I wouldn't: Kids either have something at the time that is bad/needs fixing or they do not.A 30,000 WBC is a sign of a stress response to an infection or traumatic event, You do not cite what was done, but kids do not hide a problem for 3 years that is waiting around to suddenly re-appear.
