Difficult defecation: In people that have issues with defecation, constipation is the most common reason. This is especially true in diets low in fiber and can be worsened by dehydration, alcohol, milk, coffee, tea. Increasing fiber (psyllium for example), increasing water intake, and consideration for over-the-counter stool softeners (docusate for example) are good starting points.
