Sounds: Like you have constipation and you might have a fissure or bleeding hemorrhoid from the straining. That would cause blood around the stool. It still should be checked out. Meanwhile MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) will help soften your stool wile helping the constipation. Stay well hydrated and eat 9 servings a day of fruits and veggies a day.

Blood is serious: There are a few benign causes of red blood in the stool (hematochezia) but there are also some serious ones. You need to see your physician for a rectal exam and perhaps colonoscopy.
