C. diff treatment: Yes, C. diff is a nasty disease, and metronidazole can fail in up to 20% of cases. Vancomycin (oral form) is much better at treating it, but I'm sure the disease took it's toll. I've unfortunately seen some bad outcomes from the disease. Make sure you drink lots of fluids, rest and be very careful next time with any antibiotics. Make sure to tell your doc you had C. diff before. See ID doc if Qs.
