Depends: It depends on how long ago did you have any exposure, and what test is being done. Antibody tests may take 6-12 months to turn positive. An HIV nucleic acid test, if negative, at about 12 weeks after exposure essentially rules out HIV. Any test, if done too soon after exposure will not give a reliable result.
