A 38-year-old member asked:

can you tell me how much weight can i lose in 1 month with a real strict diet?

1-2 lbs/week: Shoot for about 1-2 pounds a week for weight loss and you will be able to keep it off. More then that and you run the risk of bouncing back to your original weight.

A 46-year-old member asked:

What are some effective diet pills?

Dr. Samuel Sadow
Bariatrics 48 years experience
Yes: Fda approved diet pills are only prescribed under your doctor's care and for short times only. Tenuate and Phentermine are the safest, but have certain contraindications. If you think you need a diet pill you likely need a good weight loss physician to prescribe a program for you. Most people fail in dieting because they're not being well supervised and get discouraged.
A 45-year-old member asked:

How much weight must I gain if i'm carrying triplets?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Nikolaos Zacharias
Maternal-Fetal Medicine 26 years experience
The more the better.: Extrapolating from studies in twins that show that increased maternal gestational weight gain is associated with improved fetal/neonatal outcomes, i would say that there is no upper limit to weight gain with triplets. Just monitor your health closely with your maternal-fetal medicine specialist to assure you do not have diabetes mellitus and/or hypertension. Take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily!

Too lose weight: Starvation diets are used by many patients to rapidly lose weight. They do not cause any sustainable weight loss and are very unhealthy.
A 41-year-old member asked:

Why would you need to join a gym to lose weight?

Dr. Lisa Saponaro

Not necessary: Joining a gym may serve as a commitment to exercise. It can also help create partnerships for an exercise program which makes maintenance more likely. Exercise is for your health and fitness. Reduction in calories is the best bet for weight loss. The combination is great, but a gym membership is not necessary to accomplish either.

How to reduce weight safely?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Alan Faustino
Internal Medicine 26 years experience
Patience: Everyone knows how to do this, there are not tricks or secrets the problems is that most of us do not want to wait for the weight to come of the right way or do not want to put the work into it. Its simple, loose no more than 4 pounds a month as studies have shown that you are less likely to put it back on if you loose more than that a month.
