A member asked:

I cut my pinky with a potato peeler and it took a reasonably sized chunk of flesh off. do i need stitches?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If the peeler took out a chunk of tissue with no skin edges to bring close enough to stitch then you do not need stitches. Make sure you are up to date on your tetanus immunization. Clean the wound daily with distilled saline water, apply neosporin and keep it covered. See a doctor if you develop any signs of infection.
