Likely a real hazard: Recent research found TPHP, a chemical found in most (but not all) nail polishes, is absorbed thru nails into our bodies. Animal studies show it disrupts hormones and can cause reproductive and developmental problems. It may also cause obesity. More research is needed to learn how hazardous it is for humans: http://www.ewg.org/research/nailed/nail-polish-chemical-doubles-furniture-fire-retardant
