?testing for strep?: The only reason for antibiotics during a sore throat would be if strep were detected.You can have a positive strep test while you have mono, but the mono will not get better with antibiotics, in adults it tends to be at least a 3 week illness. The story you give is confusing and this may all mask another problem. I'd visit your doc and clarify what is going on with some testing.
