Not always necessary: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is often prescribed for night time because a sedative effect is not unusual when a patient begins the medication and is often transient. The sedation occurs in a significant minority but can also be activating in some patients so if it causes insomnia, the medication can be taken earlier in the day.

Side effects: Cymbalta (duloxetine) may cause drowsiness. Best to take a med that makes you sleepy at bedtime. If you don't get drowsy from Cymbalta (duloxetine), check with your doctor but no reason why you can't take it in the morning if more convenient. Just take it consistently the same time every 24 hours. Best wishes.
