Inside or outside: Tonsilitis hurts inside the throat. It hurts when you swallow. Thyroiditis hurts outside the throat, in the front of the neck and it hurts when you touch it. It is also often accompanied by palpitations, tremors and weight loss. Either way, a doctor should see you to evaluate.
