Several odd features: many things make a reading of 140/100 possibly inaccurate. Needs to be done ideally lying down but certainly calm and at least sitting. AND NOT TALKING. Then, there's half a dozen different bp med families. It seems unlikley that most of them would fail if given in sufficient doses.cannot say in your particular case, but generally, this isnt' a hard problem

? Hypertension: Is the child overweight or obese? Has the blood pressure measuring cuff was big enough to cover at least 2 thirds of arm,was sitting or lying down and not moving. If all these measures were met and on several occasions bp was still elevated, has routine minimum panel of blood work performed to look for a cause before labeling it as essential hypertension, was the right dose given and taken regularly
