Was diagnosed with ptsd today... they gave me meds but no other advice the next appointment isn't for 3 months. what can i do to help myself?

PTSD can be: helped w/more than meds. Please stay w/your doc but consult a mental health professional who works w/PTSD through various forms of therapy such as clinical hypnosis or systematic desensitization. A helpful therapist will know that recent research indicates that telling one's story too often can re-tramatize. Peace and good health.

Consider 2nd opinion: If you are having symptoms of PTSD, that can be quite distressing. Follow-up with therapy and some closer evaluation of the effects of the medication would seem to be in order. Discuss with your doctor before 3 months and consider getting a second opinion.
