This is a: term I hear about most often from singers and it refers to the tongues MUSCULATURE which when "tense" (contracted) can effect the voice quality! Elevated tongue tension is also associated with TMJ (Tempero-mandibiular joint) disorders. Your DENTIST is the person to ask first .. an ENT Throat specialist may also be consulted! Hope this helps!
