The endometrial: stripe is thickest right before a period and thinnest at the end of the period. 18 mm is slightly above the maximum considered normal. This is called "endometrial hyperplasia." Its significance depends partly on your age, menstrual pattern & the degree of irregularity of the stripe. Your Gyno may need to "sample" or biopsy the endometrium to get a firm diagnosis. Dr. Anne
