Why do some patient experience constipation with colitis?

There's constipation: and there's feeling like you cannot move your bowels. The inflammation makes most with colitis FEEL like they ahve to go and can't .. because nothing is there. Real constipation with distention, etc. is not so common. Can be with a mechanical block from the illness.

ICrohns disease. I am not in any medication, and feel fine. Pathology report chronic active colitis, crypt abscesses and crypytits. pushed for colonoscopy b/c of constipation/diarrhea. Ive had for years thought ppi use.doc wont put me on medicine?
