It will work: Zinnat, Cefuroxime is effective against the Streptococcus that causes sore throat. Quite often Strep throat doesn't need antibiotics. If it does, Penicillin V is also effective in doses of 250-500mgs four times a day. It is probably the only indication left for oral penicillin .
