Strep: Strep throat results in pain on swallowing with red, inflamed posterior throat. It is highly susceptible to Amoxil (amoxicillin) (penicillins) but some people may require other medications. However, "spreading to chest" - do you mean you have a concurrent cough now, or chest pain. Some people have a viral/bacterial cough - please see your physician to further evaluate your symptoms.
