A member asked:

Taking lisinopril for 10+ months & suddenly got a swollen big toe (most likely "gout" according to er). healthy lifestyle. possible side effect ??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

AsLongAsYouDidntStub: If it didn't hurt like stink then the liklihood of gout is very low. If it itched a lot then it was probably an allergic reaction to something local like an insect bite. But if it just swelled up out of nowhere, no itch, no pain, then it could be related to the lisinopril. That's an unusual location for "angioedema," but if in doubt, talk to your doctor about this. It could get worse.
