A member asked:

Seeing a neuro soon, in the meantime is there anything i can do or apply to counteract recent numbness (used to be burning) in foot? e. g. capsaicin?

Yes but : Effectiveness would really depend on etiology if the numbness.... There are medications (prescription) likemelavil, amitryptilline, lyrica, (pregabalin) cymbalta. There is medical food like Metanx. There are treatment modalities like neurogenix,....to name some alternatives...

Neuropathy.: As long as you are scheduled to see a specialist soon, there is no need to begin self treatment now. It would be better to have your foot evaluated in it's natural state, without the effect of treatments designed to minimize your symptoms. A competent specialist is your best avenue for treating not only the symptoms, but also the underlying cause of the, what sounds like, neuropathy.
