A member asked:

Why is sciatic pain worse at night?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

When you lie down: on your spine, the nerve compression would worsen in that dependent position likely due to increased pressure and inflammation where the compression occurs. Usually nerve root compression occurs in the lower back (lumbar) and lying supine or on the side of the compression will worsen the symptoms. Standing up and leaning forward usually relieve symptoms for that reason.
