Muffled hearing: Hearing loss can be due to loud noise, age, earwax, ear infection, ruptured eardrum or other conditions that affect the middle or inner ear. A middle ear infection can cause fluid behind the eardrum and hearing loss. Sometimes there is a ringing, roaring or buzzing suggesting an inner ear infection. This can be associated with dizziness or vertigo. If your hearing problem persists get exam.
