Is different.: Group A strep is the type that causes rheumatic fever and so that always needs to be treated. The others groups of strep don't. Some don't even treat them as they get better on their own. Some do, so you get better quicker. Z-paks are not as effective as penicillins in treating strep. We double the dose in kids with Grp A, but it may help an adult in that dose, esp. with grp G.
