Hypothyroidism: I would probably not wait until symptoms appear. Thyroxine treatment is usually safe.

Hypothyroidism: No, this is not true. The treatment of hypothyroidism is pretty simple - just one pill a day. The adverse eggects are slow and hard to notice - slow mentation, forgetfulness, decreased cognition to mention only a few.
