Hypothyroidism: Hypothyroidism refers to an underactive thyroid which is confirmed by lab tests showing an elevated TSH. If TSH is just barely abnormal, treatment could be considered based upon symptoms http://goo.gl/L0oOTB. However, lab tests aren't 100% accurate - there's always some degree of uncertainty so if TSH is barely abnormal & you feel perfectly normal w/o symptoms, it's ok to repeat & recheck w/o meds
