Can occur w/pregnanc: Hyperthyroidism can occur with pregnancy, but it is not common. Treatment is generally safe during pregnancy, if you're being followed by a qualified endocrinologist.

Autoimmune thyroid: Autoimmune thyroid disease spans graves hyperthyroidism to hashimotos hypothyroidism. Sometime pregnancy can set this off in susceptible people. Don't blame the pregnancy.. You were probably destined. Treatment with thyroid replacement hormone is easy.
