When a gouty tophi has opened up and the uric acid bulid up starts leaking out will this lower the uric acid level in the body? and how do you treat?

No !: The best treatment approach for tophaceous gout is medication that lowers your uric acid level. Allopurinol is most commonly used, but there are other drugs as well. Left untreated, you run the risk of progression joint destruction.

No: A leaking tophus will not effect serum uric acid levels. There are meds available that are very good at dissolving tophi. A leaking one can also be surgically removed. One develops tophi because the serum uric acid is not controlled.
