Defeats purpose: The purpose of the Skyla IUD is to make women have lighter and shorter cyclical bleeding. It may cause irregular spotting/bleeding. As long as the irregular bleeding/spotting and any cyclical bleeding is perceived less bothersome than the monthly bleeding pattern without the Skyla, you have a winner. If not, you may as well have the Skyla removed and try an alternative.
