My hgb is 10+ (12-18), but serum iron is 3 (9-27). i experience extreme fatigue and dehydration, especially with menses. is this serious? thanks!

See your doctor: You have microcytic anemia due to low iron. When it is severe, shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain, headaches, & leg pains may occur. Besides the general symptoms of anemia, there are certain symptoms that are characteristic of iron deficiency. These include pica, a burning sensation in the tongue, a smooth tongue, sores at the corners of the mouth, and spoon-shaped fingernails & toenails
