Vegan diet: Vegan diet is very healthy but you have to make sure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals you need. Young women lose iron every month and must replace it. The most common source is red meat. You may need iron supplements long term.

Glad you're treated: If you've become a vegan for moral reasons, good for you. I admire this commitment to caring about animals. In spite of what you may have been told, you'll be wise to supplement iron and some other nutrients. A good vegan-friendly evidence-based nutritionist will be your best guide. And do remain alert for possible GI loss through ulcer or other lesion that bleeds intermittently.
