These are routine: procedures. Takes a minute to clean the skin well, then blood drawing for blood culture is like any blood drawing. Inserting an IV is much like blood drawing. cetriaxone can be infused quickly .. a few minutes. slow drip wouldn't be a great deal different IM is immediate.

Not long: Most of those are very quick. Blood cultures should be drawn from two sites on the body. Unless it is very difficult to find good veins it's 5 minutes or so. The canula takes seconds to insert. We do not rapidly inject into vein, rather add it to saline and give over 30 minutes or so. It can also be given intramuscularly (IM), which also takes seconds. Be warned, IM ceftriaxone really stings
