: A displaced IUD is not as effective in preventing pregnancy, and whether in the correct location, does not protect against pregnancies outside the uterus (ectopic). Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy, and see your GYN physician for an exam and other testing if the HCG test is positive.
