Is infected?: The pain on the Achilles' tendon could be because of a tendinitis or a bursitis. This can be associated to edema and a spur that could had be rubbing against a shoe and it looks red. The indication for augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is for acute infections if you do not have a portal of entry in the skin you probably do not have an infection. Get a X-ray and/or Mri to determine the correct diagnosis
