Nonspecific finding: Inflammation on a pap smear is very nonspecific -- i.e. there are many potential causes. It's so common that many gyns don't even consider it abnormal. STDs are possible if at risk (new partner, partner with other partners, etc), but STDs are relatively uncommon at your age. Ask your doctor about it and whether she recommends repeat pap smear or any other testing.
