How is it decided wether to remove only a cyst/dermoid on an ovary vs. removing the entire ovary? what impact would pt only having 1 ovary have?

Age: in general you would remove the ovary if you think there is cancer or if you do not want any children and are generally in the 45+ age group. younger than that you would never remove the ovary. one ovary gets rid of half of your eggs, lowers your hormones and make fertility harder
