Consult with MD: A young patient after a mild stroke should have all their risk factors assessed and controlled. Non-modifiable risk factors are age, sex and genetics, modifiable risk factors are the target: blood pressure, smoking, some blood factors which may affect clotting, heart conditions (shunts), lipids (although those may play a smaller role than previously thought). As far as imaging, MRI is far superior.

Stroke: Both are important. A ct scan will allow the physician to determine the type of stroke and the extent of the injury. A lipid profile will help in assessing the need of aggressive cholesterol level treatment. The most common risk factor in stroke is hypertension. Check with your doctor for adequate diagnosis and treatment.
