Chronic Cough: Greetings. Personally, I am very suspicious for he reflux or GERD to be causing irritation of the area around your vocal cords to be irritated. Cancer is possible but not my #1 thought. See your ENT doctor who can perform a NPL which will assess your vocal cords.

Chronic cough: can be triggered by acid reflux. Or allergy symptoms. Or smoking cigarettes or inhaling drugs. Or taking a blood pressure medicine (the ACE inhibitor class is especially guilty). Or cancer. But the first 3 are more common in your age group.
And no that is not normal.
